Otoplasty - plastic surgery of the ears

Unfortunately, prominent ears invite teasing and taunting and are a source of complexes. There is a simple solution, however, in the form of plastic surgery performed under local anaesthesia.

For whom is otoplasty suitable?

The surgery is suitable for women, men, and children. Otoplasty can help fix:

• prominent ears
• asymmetrical ears
• ear deformation

How is otoplasty performed?

The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia and lasts up to one hour. In the case of cartilage relief remodelling, at most an hour and a half.

To correct prominent ears, after applying anaesthesia, we perform an incision along the back side of the ear so that after healing the scar won't be visible. Stitches are used to pull the ear toward the head into the desired position, and if needed the cartilage is remodelled. After surgery, an elastic bandage is worn.

Two days later the bandage is removed during a post-surgery check and the client then wears an elastic headband for two weeks. Refraining from strenuous physical activity for about a month is recommended.

Prior to the surgery it is necessary to come in for a consultation with the plastic surgeon, who will determine whether the surgery will involve simply pulling the ear(s) toward the head or whether shape and relief also need to be modified.

You can make an appointment with our highly skilled plastic surgeon, Dr. Peter Mertan.

Prices start at CZK 29,000.
