What is RSV?

RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is one of the most common causes of respiratory infections in infants and young children. Most children encounter RSV before the age of 2. For some, however, the infection can become serious – leading to bronchiolitis or pneumonia, often requiring hospitalization.

Who is the vaccine intended for?

  • Newborns and infants at the beginning of the RSV season
  • Children under 2 years of age at increased risk of complications (e.g., premature babies, children with chronic lung or heart disease, etc.)

 

  • For newborns and infants before and during their first RSV season, vaccination is covered by public health insurance.
