The urology practice at MY CLINIC

The medical field of urology is concerned with the examination and treatment of diseases of the urinary-tract system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra) and of the male reproductive organs.  We take pride in our individualized approach to each and every patient.  We examine patients using modern diagnostics and work closely with the other specialist practices at our family clinic.

What do urologists treat

We specialize in the diagnostics and treatments of a great variety of diseases of the urinary tract.  The most common complaints include:

  • infections of the urinary tract, burning aches during urination
  • blood in the urine
  • incontinence
  • urinary stones
  • urological tumors affecting kidneys, bladder, prostate, testicles, or penis
  • enlarged prostate; prevention of prostate tumors
  • erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, testosterone deficiency

How is the examination performed

The basis of each examination is always formed by a conversation with the patient, aimed at a thorough understanding of the circumstances of their complaints which should be put within the context of their personal medical history.  Each examination will include an abdominal ultrasound scan of the kidneys, the urinary bladder, and, in men, the prostate and testes.  The specific issues of each patient will determine what other diagnostic methods we are going to deploy.  We may send in blood and urine samples for lab work.  In the interest in accurate and fast diagnostics, we make use of a host of modern imaging methods, including Doppler ultrasound tests, contrast radiography, CT, magnetic resonance imaging, endoscopic examinations (flexible cystoscopy), and uroflowmetry (a noninvasive screening procedure to calculate the urine flow rate).

Pelvic floor therapy

The pelvic floor is a system of muscle layers and ligaments that are spread like a net between the coccyx, the pubic symphysis and the ischial tuberosities. The pelvic floor has fundamental importance in a woman's ability to conceive a child. Likewise, it is significant during the course of pregnancy, and plays an important role in childbirth, and in the postpartum period.

Pelvic floor dysfunction may manifest as incontinence (unwanted leakage of urine) or may cause pelvic, sacral or coccyx pain, menstrual pain, painful intercourse or functional infertility.

At MY CLINIC, the gynaecologists and physiotherapist work together on pelvic floor therapy. The physiotherapist then teaches the client to be aware of her pelvic floor – to visualise it, relax and then to strengthen it properly. An important tool at this point is the MYO 200, which detects the quality of the contraction via a graphic recording. The client then has better awareness of how these muscles work.

Our team

As a patient of MY CLINIC, you may rely with complete trust on a team of highly qualified physicians and friendly medical support staff.  We set aside enough time for every examination.  Our specialists from various fields work in close cooperation.  In the case of urology exams, this primarily means aligning treatment with the care provided by general practitioners, internal specialists, and gynecologists.  Both basic and follow-up examinations will thus be comfortably administered at the same place, in the friendly environment of a modern family clinic, whereas appointments can be scheduled for specific dates and hours.
